Hi Cats!

Here’s the latest.  I saw a Dr. at UNC yesterday and my optic nerve is swollen. We knew that.  They suspect that the nerve us swollen due to the bone socket growing and pressing in on the optic nerve.  I’m to have a CT scan tomorrow to determine if that is indeed the cause.  If it’s not the cause, the swelling could be due to one of my medications which, wonderfully enough, I found out could be switched for another.  So, this is going to be a long ordeal either way.  Having my skull socket scooped out is not a pleasant thought, but it would be a definite cause and my vision “could” return to normal and I would know my eye problem would be fixed.  If it’s the medication, in all likely hood stopping it would ease down the swelling.  Again, my vision “could” return to normal. However, that’s a waiting game and while waiting my eye could get worse.  Both options have major pros and cons as in the nature of such medical dilemmas.  Anyway, I should know more in the next day or so.

As to the comic I am torn.  Part of me wants to update when I can and another part wants to keep COTC dormant and just do the comic when I can, creating a backlog.  I’m gravitating to the latter, but whatever the case, updates are going to be sporadic if at all for a while.  I did some Sebo comics last week and had only minor problems w/ them, but I have yet to do a COTC page.  I’m going to try a bit of filler art and post it in the next day or so. Again, thank you for your patience and support.

Take care,

Jamie

Hi Cats.

Here's the latest update as of 5-20-08.  If you have read this on my LJ skip to the second paragraph as it concerns the comic. Anyway, for the rest, here goes. The doctor ruled out the bone deformity today w/ a CT scan, so that is not putting pressure on the optic nerve and we are now down to two options according to the doc.  It could be a medication that I’m taking, (cyclosporine to be exact), that is causing the pressure in the spinal fluid, so to determine that I have to have a spinal tap. Unfortunately, the doctor told me the wrong medicine last time, a drug which could have been replaced. The drug she suspects cannot be replaced, but it can be treated. Anyway, the spinal tap is next Wednesday.  I have had one before years ago, so I know it’s not a thrill ride.  The other option they are looking at is an optic nerve stroke.  There is no way to really determine if that is it, just rule everything else out and there is no treatment.  If it’s the medication then there are meds to alleviate the pressure for that.  Anyway, that’s where it all stands.

Currently my eye problem is more of an annoyance than a disability, so until then I will continue to draw when I can. As for the comic I am putting it on indefinite hiatus until I know more about the situation. Hopefully w/ this time off I can create a backlog, but at this time I can make no promises.

Thanks again for everyone who has written and everything. I sincerely appreciate it.
